Table Talk: Chaophraya

Table Talk: Chaophraya

Location: 19 Chapel Walks, Manchester

They say: "With our renowned open kitchen and sunken seated private dining table, guests can get a true taste of Thailand complete with first class service and a bustling atmosphere"

Perfect for: Special occasions and large group dining.

Atmosphere: I went on a weekday evening for dinner and it was busy, there where buzzy lively areas next to the kitchen and then some calm more relaxed private areas, all with an authentic Thai feel.

What we ordered:

- Hoi Shell Yang Mamaung - Scallops and Black Pudding - Thai-Scottish duet of seared scallops and pan-fried black pudding, served with fresh mango, red peppers, spring onion, fresh chilli and palm sugar.

- Tod Mun pla - Thai Fish Cakes - Spicy cod and coley fish cakes blended with our special recipe of green beans, lime leaves and red curry paste served with a sweet chilli sauce and a peanut vegetable relish.

- Khanom Jeeb - Steamed dumplings - Prawn, crab meat and chicken mixed with water chestnuts, spring onion and coriander root, steamed in a wonton wrapper and topped with fried garlic and a sweet soy sauce.

- Ped Pad Prik Pao - Duck in Roasted Chilli - Duck stir fried with roasted chillies, mushrooms, carrots, peppers, onions and sweet basil.

- Gai Nutty - Grilled Peanut Chicken - Chicken marinated with honey, lemongrass and coriander root, grilled and topped with peanut sauce served with vegetable relish and sprinkled with black sesame seeds.

- Khao Niew - Sticky rice.

- Sen Bamee Pad - Stir fried egg noodles with soy sauce, spring onion and bean sprouts.

- Bananas in Sweet Coconut Milk - Sweet & exotic, made with fresh bananas & young coconut.

- Siam Smile - Vanilla Vodka, passion fruit & pineapple juice topped with Champagne

What I liked:

- Excellent super friendly service.

- Great authentic quality food.

- Gai Nutty was one of the best peanut chicken dishes I've had, so good.

Overall: A great place to taste authentic Thai food in a fine dining setting.
